Architecture for living

Azhianeh architecture projects

Azhianeh began with a question: how can what must stand become a place to live? The practice was founded in 2005 by Dr Hassan Taheri and Dr Shokoufeh Zaheri, between two worlds from the start: structure and architecture.

Structure taught us that every building needs logic to stand; architecture taught us that standing is not enough. A building must hold life.

Selected architecture projects

From a structure that stands to architecture for living

We have never looked for architecture only in the facade. It starts with land, sun, wind, climate, topography, view, structure and economics, and with the person who will live there. Every site has its own problem; every project must find its own answer.

Two decades of experience, and every project still a new start

Since 2005, from houses and villas to towers, from single buildings to masterplans, projects across Iran have shaped this office. A line that is simple on paper meets structure, services, budget, time and regulation on site. The site has been one of our most serious teachers.

Architecture begins with the land

On the coast the sea organises the plan; in the mountains the slope becomes the form; in a tower the challenge is keeping the quality of a home at height; in a hotel, a continuous experience; in a masterplan, the relationship between buildings, water, greenery and community.

Architecture and economics are not separate worlds

Years of designing, building, investing and developing taught us that architecture that cannot be built is not yet a full answer. The task is to find the point where architecture, structure, economics and buildability stop opposing each other.

From line to life

Architecture always begins with a line, on paper, on the ground or on the horizon seen from a window. But the line is not the end. It must be built, filled with light and lived in. Then the line has become life.
