Azna Hotel & Recreation Complex

Hospitality and shared spaces

The Azna hotel proposal brings accommodation together with sport, recreation and commerce. The varied programme raises a question of connection: how can activities with different rhythms belong to one complex? Architecture and structure are considered together in the project presentation.

The two archive images move from the exterior to the entrance. One introduces the overall composition; the other brings attention to the guest’s first encounter with the interior. They show two related scales of the hotel experience.

In hotel architecture, the overall image and the scale of the guest’s presence are connected. Reading the exterior introduces the composition; studying the entrance brings attention to the first moment of a stay. The Azna archive allows that shift of scale and shows why a hotel presentation extends beyond the building envelope.

Bringing accommodation together with sport, recreation and commerce requires thought about connections between uses. Guest and service routes, public spaces and relationships between parts are important design questions for such a programme. Read in this way, Azna offers a reference for programme diversity and the connection between architecture and project structure within Azhianeh’s portfolio.
